Wedding Shoes...

The shoes are just as important as the gown... and that is even more of the case in 2009 and 2010.... As you can tell “Fun Shoe” photos were popular this year. Not only are shoes a great way to incorporate your “personal” touch on your wardrobe, but it is a great way to bring in a “pop” of color in a very white wardrobe. I hope that all of my 2010 brides express themselves and pick some incredibly cute (and hopefully comfortable) shoes!​

New Chair Cover Website...

I am happy to have completed one of my projects of creating a new Chair Cover Website. I wanted to “break this away” from my current wedding planning site. I like the idea of devoting more space to the chair covers. I added photos of all of the sash, table runner and overlay photos. I also was able to better detail out the reservation process. In the Woods Weddings - Hayward, Wisconsin

I had the pleasure of working with In the Woods Weddings this past weekend. Katie was working with a couple planning their Anniversary Party and used us for their Chair Covers and Sashes. Her flowers did an amazing job of complimenting the room, the linens and the whole theme. If you are planning a destination wedding in Hayward Wisconsin, look her up! The Cost of a Tented Wedding Reception...

A few weeks ago I ran across this wonderful post from Michigan Wedding Planner Jessica of Stella Event Design.. I thought this was the perfect read to repost. She hits it right on the head. We get a lot of calls wanting us to assist the couples in making their backyard dreams come true. I believe we do a lot of weddings in backyards because they are hard. Simply Put.. you really need to hire a professional planner when you are doing a backyard wedding. Not only to help you see all of the unforeseen issues (Parking, Bathrooms, Bugs, Lighting, etc) But also to be there on the day of the wedding to run to the store to get more ice if needed, pick up a generator, move tables and chairs around.. all of the little things that you take for granted when you are in a banquet facility.
I could go on and on about all of the issues we have encountered... wind, humidity, a swarm of bees, blown fuses, seven trips to the liquor store (yes, Seven....They liked to party!)
Here is what Jessica Wrote: The key to creating a tented wedding on your own property (or even a rented space), is keeping in mind all of the rental costs you are going to incur. While a tented wedding may seem like the budget-friendly option, let’s take a look at how the numbers break down in comparison to a local venue that has a flat $2800 rental fee:

I am not by any means saying you shouldn’t get married in a backyard or on a beautiful piece of family property—that can be a very meaningful and beautiful option for your wedding location—the thing you have to consider is if you are choosing that option only because it seems like the cheaper way to go.  Because in most cases, bringing in all of those rental items will cost you much more than renting a venue (not to mention all of the extra work for you and your family), and that’s something you should realistically consider when choosing between a tented wedding on private property, versus a reception venue.

Kelley and Matt- October 10

Kelly and Matt, What a great couple! It was such a fun time working with them through the whole planning process. Matt was not only adores Kelly, but he trusts her too... we were joking alot that Matt had not seen the venue until a few days before the wedding. But Kelly had great taste and that showed!!! I love the Calhoun Beach Club and I think the first time Kelly saw it she did too.... the ease of having the ceremony and reception at the same place is so nice. The “getting ready” room is wonderful and the food can not be beat!! We incorporated a lot of “personal touches” such as her mother’s veil being incorporated into the bouquet, Kelly read some of her grandparents love letters during the ceremony (Tear-jerking!!) and one of my favorite moments of the night was when the last song played and all of the guests (yes, practically all of them were still there) gathered in a circle and sang along to Piano Man... this is a tradition of all St. John’s/St. Ben’s Students!
