Weddings and the Recession

I found this video on a fellow wedding planners site(Weddex.com) and I think it really touches on what my couples are doing to scale back in this economy. I probably get asked about 5 times a day how this economy is effecting couples and effecting my business. To tell you the truth, I feel very blessed..We have not seen a hit. I think most of the couples that I work with are very mindful of their budgets in all economies. The one thing I hope people can get out of this is that this couple hired a wedding planner and instead of costing them money, it saved them money! We get a lot of great discounts, can find really good deals and can save on delivery charges, set up fees, etc. Anything I can personally do to save you money.. I will!!

Shelby and Erics Fabulous Valentines Day Wedding!!

From the day that Shelby, Deb (her mother) and I sat down in Starbucks to meet and talk about her wedding.... I was excited.....
When she described what she wanted, I had a very clear vision....bright, vibrant, and very "hollywood". We had so much fun planning every element and we did it in 7 months!!! Here is a sneak peek of some photos. The WONDERFUL Kelly Brown Weddings photographed the wedding at Jackpot Junction in Redwood Falls, MN. Alilu Studios did all of the florals, centerpieces, and lanterns. We did all of the chargers, chair covers and of course planning. Apres did the wonderful draping and vibrant linens. I could not be happier with how it turned out. We warmed up Valentines Day. It took my team 3 days to assemble everything and it was worth every minute!!! I miss you already Shelby, Eric and Deb!

Jessica and Geoff - January 18

January 18th was a great day for a wedding!! The Sun was shining and not even the cold MN weather could stop all of the love! Kelly Brown did a wonderful job on the photography! Here are some great images from her... more to come.

Jessica loves the Minnesota Snow... Her and Geoff Live out in Maryland, but decided to plan their wedding in Minnesota at the Semple Mansion because she grew up here! They were a joy to work with and I miss them already!

Emily and Jake... a Winter Wonderland

One of the wonderful parts about winter in Minnesota is weddings in the snow!! But a few times this year we have had just a little bit too much snow! Emily and jake were married on December 20th in a winter wonderland and a lot of snow!! Ginny, Emilys mother and her did a wonderful job of creating all of the decor for months and months before the wedding. 413 on Wacouta

I was so happy when the wonderful Jules called to tell me that she was going to work for a new venue in St. Paul. She started to describe the venue and it sounded like a perfect new addition to the area. We need a lot more venues that will fit smaller groups. 413 on Wacouta is located in an old building in downtown St. Paul and it is filled with character, warmth and a wonderful City feel. I am attending their own house in a few weeks and am excited to talk more to Jules about the venue. I think this is going to be a real hot spot.. and one of the best things about this is that it just opended a few months ago... so there are plenty of 2009 dates left... .. but hurry!!

Merry Christmas

Hello...
Oh this is my favorite time of the year... maybe with a little less snow though! We are usually very slow this time of year so I usually sit back and think about Christmas a little more.. however this year we have been very busy (Thank God!) We just finished up our last wedding of December and it was a great one. I am excited to get photos to share with you!!

I wanted to take this time to Say MERRY CHRISTMAS and Thank you to all of the clients, friends and family that make this time of year so special and make my job so fun!!!

2009 is going to be a great year. Our dates are just about full for the whole year, so we feel very blessed and some real exciting news is that my sister in law Michelle just got engaged!! So we will have a family wedding next year too! And of course, I have the joy of planning it :)

Eye Spy Photography

I have been trying to take some time to meet with vendors in this "off season" I would say getting out and meeting with new people has been an area of my business that I am not the best at.. so I am always great when I do meet someone new. I met with Stephany from Eye Spy Photography yesterday. It was so nice to meet her and her little son too :)
