Being Graceful and Grateful

Az9TE.jpg
Every year around this time I know I write a blog about how grateful I am for my job and my life. I hope this does not get boring to the readers, but I feel that typing out your feelings is very therapeutic. With Thanksgiving around the corner and the end of the 2010 wedding season I have started to reflect upon the last year, my life and my job! I chose to title this blog “Being graceful and grateful” because I think this really incorporates my feelings about who I am, who I want to be and how I want my company to be portrayed. My job is to always be graceful, in the heat of the moment I must always act in a calm demeanor and be a problem solver. And being grateful to me means always realizing what I have and how I got here. I try to take no moments for granted, I try to remember to live everyday to the fullest! This year has provided me with another year of career bliss... even in a downward economy we were able to be involved in many wonderful weddings!
*I thank the clients that trusted me, hired me and invited me into your lives! I feel as much of a privilege to be a part of your day as you are happy to have our help.
*I thank the wonderful vendors that I have met with, worked with and had the pleasure to share in this wonderful wedding community with!
        * I thank my wonderful associates and assistants. There is no I in team.. and I will not forget that!

To celebrate Thanksgiving and the giving season.. 5% of all service fees will be donated to Toys for Tots and Adopt a Family, two organizations that we have been passionate about for years!
Thank you for your business in 2010 and your continued support and love in 2011. I am excited for a great new year!!

Who will dress Kate??

As excitement grows for Price William and Kate Middleton’s wedding next April, dress designers have come forward hoping to design the future princess’s gown!! I love to look at sketches and watch how they come to life. Here are a few of the sketches and designer ideas!

A New Take on Your Favorite Songs

I was at a tasting today with a client when we started to talk about ceremony music. My bride said she wanted something different and not the typical wedding songs. This reminded me of when I saw the “Today Show” Wedding this year. I heard the string quartet as the bride walked down the aisle and had goose bumps. They were playing “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys and it sounded so elegant and so well placed, after all they were in the middle of New York.. What better song to celebrate.. and what a classy way to play it!!! A few weeks ago I had a bride have her bridesmaids process down to “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga. Not only are these great ways to personalize your ceremony, but I also think it puts a fresh spin on your ceremony! These ideas can easily be customized for your pianist, string quartet or guitarist. It’s amazing how everything can sound elegant when played on a string instrament. Here a few a examples that I found online:

Feeling Blessed...

I love my job... and I can say that every single day over and over again... but like I have said before, the accolades and the Thank You’s are icing on the cake. Their is noting better than getting told Thank you for a job well done. It makes all of the hard work worth it! The Knot.com just launced reviews on it’s Sister-Site “WeddingChannel.com” and Wedding Wire has always been a great source for viewing reviews for vendors. So if you are a bride looking to hire a professional check out these reviews !!! Here are a few of our’s below. Check out these links for our full profile!

2nd to the dress - the best money spent!   posted 10/28/2010
There are a lot of vendors out there who charge through the roof for day-of wedding planning/coordination, but not at Lasting Impressions. Of all the things I spent money on for my wedding, this was one of those things I believe was so worth the money. The night before the wedding, I handed all control over to Sarah and thus was able to fully enjoy my wedding. Even when the florist completely dissapointed me, Sarah gathered up my bridesmaids and made things more beautiful to the best of her ability - all without me asking. Sarah does everything in her power to make sure your wedding comes off the way you want it to and gives you the freedom to enjoy your day. She does alll of this with a smile on her face and calm but confident attitude. Look no further for your wedding planner ... you've found the best.

Sarah is GREAT   posted 9/20/2010
When I first met Sarah one month prior to my wedding, I immediatly loved her. She has a wonderful personality, great work ethic and full of information. She totally listened to all I wanted and created the best day of itinerary. She contacted all of my vendors and made sure everything went off without a hitch. If you are looking for a day of wedding coordinator, pick Sarah!

Wonderful Wedding Day!   posted 10/26/2010
Sarah Trotter of Lasting Impressions Weddings is amazing to work with! She has great ideas, is very professional, and really helps you stay within your budget! The day we met her we knew we wanted her to help plan the wedding! Almost a year later, on my daughter's wedding day, it was wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy the day knowing that Sarah was taking care of all the details! Everything went perfectly!

Sketches of your Wedding Dress

Do you want to feel like a celebrity?? Do you want the designer dress experience without the designer dress price tag? There are a few companies out there now that are sketching your wedding dress for a very unique keepsake that will last the test of time. Dreamlines is a great company that will sketch brides their wedding dresses based on photos that they send in. A great way to preserve your dress in a whole new way!

Sara-Jo and Paul - June 26th

When I met Sara Jo and Paul over a year before their June 26th, 2010 wedding I knew that we had a connection. They had such an infectious energy and such a positive attitude I was so exited to help them in their journey. We started to plan a Duluth Wedding because of their love for the north shore. After a few weeks of hunting it was clear that we were not going to find a venue that they loved. So we shifted out direction back to planning their dream wedding in the Minneapolis area. Not only was I able to spend a lot of time with Sara-Jo and Paul, but Sara-Jo’s wonderful mother was involved as well. I love NOTHING more than the relationships I form with my clients and their parents.... It becomes such a wonderful experience and I always feel like I am part of the family by the end of the planning process!!
Sara-Jo and Paul.. I hope you are enjoying married life! I feel like I have life long friends in both of you and I know that your love will stand the test of time. You are truly soulmates and I felt so loved just being able to share this process and your day with you!!!

Love Letter

This past weekend I was lucky enough to help Marty and Malisa with their wedding day at Target Field! Last night when checking some email I noticed this in my inbox. These are the moments when I really know why I do my job!

Sarah,
We just want to thank you again for all of your hard work at our wedding! Having you there to set up and make sure everything was how we envisioned it made our day so much more enjoyable! We honestly didn't worry about a thing because we knew you had everything under control and would make sure that anything that did go wrong was taken care of without us ever knowing about it. My Dad came up to me at the end of the night saying how great of a job you did as well. We are so happy with how everything went and couldn't imagine a better wedding day and it was partly because of you!

Thanks again,

Malisa and Martin Lieser
